Did these pictures of a friends Audi TT in a local carpark recently, as practice really..

The weather had been glorious for days before, then shoot day arrived.. where it was foggy and wet all day! Typical start then

Lighting is done with a single 430ex flash moved around the car by a voice activated light stand. The Multiple exposures were then merged and masseged in PS

Audi TT Country tracking (external link) by PGDesigns.co.uk (external link), on Flickr

C&C very welcome everyone, so get typing :)

IMO:
The country tracking shot doesn't fit the set, but it was good practice non the less. Tracking hand help on rough country roads isn't as easy as it sounds it il lol! I wanted to try some panning shots here too and feel they would have worked well, but by this point the car was looking dirty so we left it.

I like #4 except for the way the car looks. It's just a white mass without any definition in the body. Look at Mho's shot here Photochoped Audi S5 to see the difference. Then see the links in my Sig, and...

I like these a lot. Great shots! My only opinion would be to add the small pics on number 3 to the right side of the larger pic. I think it would look a little better. Just my opinion.

I like the fog and light spilling in to the garage. Also got a laugh at the "voice activated light stand".

Yeah thats a good point. I may have lost that myself through the edit so I'll watch out for that in future.

I didnt want to loose the impact of those two main images tbh, hence I put the smaller images onto the rear light image..

Apologies, read my post again and either I was thinking more than I was typing or I missed a sentence out.

What I meant was more selected light on the car. Not ambient light flooding the photo.

The TT, whilst does have quite a lot of smooth body work, does have angles. I think showing more angles with light COULD make the photo's pop just a little more.

Example here... (external link)

Picture 1 is the best in my opinion. But it is a black car, much easier for reflection.

Which brings me to using perhaps some filters/gels?!?!?

Just a though I had. The photo's are great!!!

The mustang picture is lightpainted though isn't it? Quite a different technique to the one I've used here, but yes they have highlighted the panel curves more. I tried to bring out the curves in the first image with the light at the back of the car, I guess the light needed to be higher still..

Filters/gels are used to add colour to a flash aren't they, or do they have other uses? I didnt want to add colour to these so unless gel's do have other uses I cant see how they would have helped tbh
