I know there are a heap of threads about this and i've read them all but i'm still torn and feel as though my specific circumstances are relevant.

I shoot primarily studio shots for an online clothes company, they require full body shots so i need something wide.
I currently have the 17-40 and 85l and 50 1.4
this is a great mixes of lenses but i have money burning in my pocket and im not overly happy with the warping of the 17 on the wide end. I don't shoot landscapes either.

I also shoot a lot of video so the shallow DOF of the 35 is a major drawcard however i already have a 1.4 and 1.2. In the studio i shoot at f9 or above so arguments about the IQ of the 24-70 aren't a major concern either.
My options are as follows
1. Keep 17-40, buy 35L
2. Sell 17-40 and 50 1.4 buy 24-70 ver 1 and some video accessories i.e fluid head etc.

Another option that i could probably stretch for is a 24-105 and a 35L if i sold the 50 1.4 and 17-40
Im not interested in MF lenses or third party lenses. If you have any other combination ideas throw them my way

So, which option would you choose?

What FL do you need for your full body shots? Something to keep in mind is while its not required IS can be helpful for video. Another thing to remember is that 24-70 has less distortion at 24mm than 24-105.

I think most would recommend the 24-70 for studio work while those who do video(hand held) primarily may prefer the 24-105.

24 should cover full body shots. But the 17-40 is adequate at the moment. I'm not interested in f/4 for video

I'm using the 24-70L for my video work and have been quite pleased with it on a 7D. Not quite the same perspective as your situation but it's nice nonetheless. I use it both on a mobile support system as well as a tripod and have been happy. The speed that you get from a zoom for framing up your scenes is worth it for me. I think that once I migrate to a FF I would be looking for something longer to add to my arsenal...

Definitely 35L for video and 24-70L for photography, especially weddings.

You need wide if you got no space.:D I would use atleast 50mm if not 85mm for studio full length shots.

You're right Bobby no space. But that will change in the next 6 months. Hopefully they are building a studio downstairs with a cyclorama. Very exciting.
I don't think i can do the 35l and 24-70
anyone else shoot with this combo?

It really depends on how much you plan on using it, I suppose you could try going with the rokinon 35, and then the 24-70. I have the 35L and it's an absolutely amazing lens, but I've never tried video with it

Photography in studio 24-70. But then even much cheaper tamron 28-75mm will work fine.

Im not interested in MF and i'd prefer the 2.8 of the canon over a tamron.
I shoot in the studio 2-3 times a week and shoot video once a week. So the gear will get a fair workout. Im thinking at this stage buy the 24-70 and sell the 17-40, 50 1.4 and save for the 35.

I had a look at the 24-70 it still warps a bit much for me.
I've had another idea. How about a 7d?
This will change the look and uses of each lens.
Does anybody think this would be a good idea?

I do not believe another camera body will achieve what you want. Decide what you are trying to achieve(you haven't quite nailed it down yet) and then choose a lens that accomplishes it. If you want longer reach, purchase a 70-200 instead of using a crop camera with your current lens line up.
