I have never shot lacrosse before, so let me have it... :)

Also, it's my first time using a 300mm f/4. After using a zoom for so long it's hard not to try to reach for the zoom ring... :)

The way the field was set up, it was hard to not get cars in the background. And being it was my first go at a 300mm prime, I cut a lot of feet out. But I'm trying...

1. Nice, wish feet were in shot though.
2. Nice, might crop a little of the grass on the bottom out but that's just minor.
3. My favorite, really nice shot!
4. Nice action shot but would love to see all of them.
5. Really great shot of player... Hate the the van behind it though but I shoot sports a lot too so I know you can't help that stuff sometimes.

Thanks for the comments, well received. Kinda upset about cutting off a lot of feet, but not used to the prime yet. I'm renting it for now to see if I want to buy it. I just might...

And the field was such that there is parking almost the whole circumference of the field, and I had to be in the position I was due to the sun.

Ok, I'll warn you now..............it can become addicting!! lol

Lacrosse is basically all I've been shooting, except for Baseball. But, I haven't done baseball since last Fall, but plan on starting soon. I LOVE Lacrosse as a sport, and I've been having a lot of fun shooting it. I think your photos are great! I think the lighting and focus are best in photos 1 & 2.

And yeah, it sucks when you can't control your background. Last saturday I did a game with some huge cranes and construction equipment in the background on one side, and tons of parents in chair on another. Oh, and cars on another side.

Well it's something I'd like to shoot again. Not really knowing the rules kinda hinders the anticipation of the action, but I think I picked it up pretty quick.

There was a side of the field that was pretty clean, but unfortunately I'd be shooting into the sun, so I had to do what I could.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments.. :)

No problem! And if only we could move the sun where we wanted, it would make photography a whole lot easier! lol

My son has been playing for 3 years, since he was 4. I've learned a lot about the sport, so it does help a little to anticipate what's happening next, if you know the game more. It's a great sport, and I'm enjoying it. Starting next week I'll be doing his baseball team pictures. That sport is a little easier, because they stand around a lot, and you can get some good concentration shots. And you pretty much know when they're going to swing, run to a base, etc. lol
