Just a heads up for those purchasing this new flash from Amazon.com. You may get the "non-US" version 600EX (without the radio transmission function). I understand that the EX is not to be sold in the US, but Amazon is allowing their partner sellers to bait and switch!

My order was through Amazon, but since they did not have it in stock, it was offered by several other sellers, in this case Big Value. All orders and invoices indicate the 600EX-RT, but the item shipped is the non-US (no radio transmission functions).

This is a friendly reminder to avoid the frustration I am going through! I am sure that my experience is the tip of the iceberg...Big Value is probably shipping many of these to other unsuspecting customers!

The Amazon help line, is completely unresponsive- their answer was essentially you have to deal with the supplier, it is not our problem.

I assume it was not fulfilled by Amazon?

I'm sorry for your situation, but this is why I only buy from Amazon if it's sold or fulfilled by Amazon - returns then are hassle free.

I've purchased several items through amazon's 'other sellers' and have never had a problem returning an item. Most refunds included returning the shipping charge and return shipping charge. That said, I've received a lot of garbage and incorrect products from the "other sellers'.

That's a pretty foolish stance for them to take. Most people won't differentiate between amazon proper and a supplier.

It is definitely a good lesson for me, if I use Amazon in the future, it will be Amazon warehouse only, I have always had good service from them.

The seller has given an RGA, but I have to pay shipping back! It is on its way!

Hopefully this will help others avoid the same issue!
Brian.

You can argue your case with Amazon to get shipping $$ back - as you didn't get the product "as advertised" - key words to use are "not for sale in US" - that will ring the customer service rep brain going.

Theyll give you your money back no matter what. Just return it saying it was not as advertised and theyll even pay for shipping back if it was shipped/fulfilled by them.

They wont if it was through a third party and judging by the response it was not Amazon fulfillment.

OP in the future you should understand that buying on Amazon aside from purchases that state Amazon fulfillment is no different then buying from random sellers on Ebay. They will only police what comes in and out of their warehouses or distrubution partners. If you had bought from Amazon they would have had you ship it back and refunded your money no questions asked. At this point the only thing you can do is let the seller know you will file a chargeback in which case Amazon wont pay the seller and they wont be paid nor will they get the item back.

That hasn't been the case for me. I've bought from "random" sellers and when I had a problem with a not as advertised item, Amazon instantly refunded me the money including paying for return shipping. Then, they go after the seller.

I think there is a difference between buying "Fullfilled by Amazon" (even though it is sold by a 3rd party), and buying directly from a 3rd party seller (i.e. it ships directly from the 3rd party seller). Maybe you were buying items that said "Fullfilled by Amazon".
