No, not a tough crowd. Stay here long enough and you find that out for sure. This is one of the most supportive and decent places on the net.

BTW
Prepare to get hooked.

Try working with the rule of thirds for a while and then break it if you desire.

Im not a fan of B&W but to each their own for sure.

Thanks, had to send the 60d back to buy my wife a bed but that worked in my favor for leverage when I picked up a 7d. Much larger learning curve but I'm enjoying it.

I'm not sure I like the b&w either

Yes, if you're going out again then we have another addict in the making!
You've done a good job on the 1st image w/correct exposure and good focus. If possible, you should consider straightening the image in post processing.
The 2nd image leaves the little girls head in the shadow a bit too much for proper exposure, but some of that may be due to the head tilt she's giving you too.
Those 2 are the best images and a good start, but the use of the term addict above comes from one.....so be careful - :).
