What does selling the 5D3 so soon have anything to do with renaming it?

+1

to me the 5d3 is a clear upgrade from the wonderful 5d2.
I am loving my mark iii and saving up for a second copy.

If I had the funds, I would buy one in a heartbeat. This is the camera I have been waiting for. Looks like I will be waiting for awhile.:(

6D, 5D, 7Dii, Eos R and too many lenses, flashes and aux. gear to list!

Like always, the ones that complain don't even have the freaking thing.
The ones that do (have it) are enjoying the crap out of it and/or making $$$ off of it.

Get out people and enjoy the world by capturing it through your lens. So the D800 is the best camera ever made; it's OK. I swear it's OK to have the second best camera in the world... ;)

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

What usually happens is that when a new release that people deem to be a great thing comes out, many people put in pre-orders for multiple units hoping that there is a flood of purchasing and supplies go dry. They can then capitalize on the shortage and sell for much more than they paid.

In this case, it didn't happen, and you are seeing people dumping their "extra stock".

That is my opinion, but the trend is there.

Like others state, your title and your post don't seem to match up.

The 5D3 is the best camera I've ever had. I sold a 5D2 and 7D to get it and have no remorse whatsoever. The light leak problem is a non issue to me and wouldn't even bother swapping for a new one that had a fix. Compared to the excellent 5D2 it's much better, AF and ISO are miles better, and to the very good 7D the High ISO, AF and IQ are amazing. Out of 1349 photos taken I've got 1297 keepers, and some of the throwaways have been lens and high ISO tests. Amazing camera, I love it and will keep it for a long time to come and if I had the funds I'd swap my backup 60D for another 5D3.

Interesting theory. Did this happen to other Canon camera releases before?
It is still out of stock almost everywhere and there are few places with stock and they do jack up prices.

It doesn't matter what it's called nearly as much as what it does, we say.

You're not the only one... more power to the people that can afford it. :(

It's in stock in the two stores I've visited within 100 miles of here, and the prices were not jacked up at all. No D800's, but they have 5D3's for sale.

Um, I just counted the total 5D3's for sale on the first few pages of each forum. I got a grand total of 4, with as many people looking to trade other stuff for a 5D3.

That's not exactly droves of people trying to get rid of these things...

I think the camera is the best I've owned. I've been through a 40d, 50d, 2 5ds, 2 5dIIs, and 2 1d3s--I buy and sell too much haha. It's focusing system, ISO capabilities, and overall functionality it awesome.

Am I going to sell it soon? Yes.

Why? I can afford it on my credit card for a while (18 months no interest at Best Buy) and it's cheaper than renting it. If I take a $100 hit when I sell it for 3 months usage it will be totally worth it for all the great images I'm getting out of it. You'll find me free of remorse :)

"Buyers remorse"? It seem like they have more people selling them on here and FM more then in online stores?

Not at all, I'm very happy with my purchase. The light leak is a non-issue for me and may already be resolved with the first firmware release, which I still need to do, reminder to self. The more I use the camera, the better and better it's getting. I moved from a 7D to this... well actually I added this to my collection as I still love my 7D and plan to keep using them both for the foreseeable future.
