If they actually make it look anything like the concepts (unlikely?), has a good sensor, and can use legacy glass, I'll buy it.

But here, in Japan, words are flashing around that "it" is finally coming!!!! If the electronic viewfinder tech is good enough, we really could be on the verge of seeing dSLRs having less "point" to them. I certainly wouldn't cry if we moved away from bodies which resemble SLRs in almost every way. As soon as my contacts hear anything definite, I'll post more, but again, anyone out there from Canon itself, don't feel reluctant to post info' up. ![]() Regards, Simon I would also be interested in a smaller mirrorless but bigger sensor camera

More info | FlyingPhotog wrote in post #14337181 I guess I'm missing some vital knowledge about this whole mirror-less thing but... I think Jay, one of the most important aspects is the lack of a great big 'moving part'....which therefore can never go wrong/wear out, doesn't need to flip out of the way before a shot can be taken, and doesn't need to be taken into account regarding the lens-to-body attachment point. The cameras I've seen with EVFs suffer from noticeable lag on the screen and a distinct lack of resolution as well. If both conditions were to be improved, what's to keep that tech from migrating to say, a G13 and therefore simply make a good P&S (G12) that much better. I'm sure that's going to happen anyway....but a slim body with its own, smaller but not much lower quality lens system, is, surely, the way of the future? And via an adapter, using ones current lenses while the manufacturer develops native lenses is a "bonus" in my book. What's the attraction of the 4/3, "Pen", etc. genre? Is it simply the size? Features? Ability to use "grown up" lenses? I think many, originally P&S shooters simply don't want to lose the remarkable "pocketability" of a P&S. Include in that a pretty tiny lens or two, and you've got what we've got....but for 1/10 the weight, and 1/4 the price.....err.....sounds good to me.....as long as they can clear those last few hurdles: EV lag-rate is certainly one of them, but try out a Sony Alpha77, and you'll see they're almost there. Call me crazy, but I don't see the appeal of going out to shoot with a 70-200 or 300mm with nothing more than a "pack of smokes" on the back end. I know it won't balance very well because it already doesn't using an un-gripped SLR. I find "big" glass + small camera = unwieldy kit. Don't Hate .. Educate! ![]() I dunno, Jay. Wouldn't it have to be fat(deep) like the pentax k01 due to the required lens/sensor distance? If its possible, awsome. I've wondered about that myself, the more I think about it the depth could very well be a problem for a very compact ef mount. If Canon released a nice set of sharp primes and zooms to go with it, I might still go for it since the lenses would invariably be more compact. In addition, I'm sure a Zeiss adapter wouldn't be too far behind a Canon mirrorless offering.... Ken
