ibis & egret hanging together

I don't know if their is an adaptive significance but it seems these two guys, the white-face ibis and the snowy egret like to hang together. Tough contrast to get right, either blow out the egret or not highlight the ibis.

They are together because opposits atract each other (black / white)LOL.

A difficult shot indeed. My eye is drawn to the Ibis though in the first and third shots and you did get good detail there. A nice environment/natural photo.

Just a word of explanation here.

The white-faced ibis is the dark bird that does not appear to have any white around its face. They get the white details in the face once they are a year or two old, so this one is a juvenile.

The white bird is the Snowy Egret.

This scene looks just like the place where I shot my ibis earlier this year (near Mountain View, CA).

Thanks Bob, it's my understanding that the white face only appears in the breeding season as well.

...or something like that.

According to Sibley, "Ibises and spoonbills of both sexes have bare areas on the face that become brightly colored during pair formation and that are displayed in courtship."

So, your next challenge is to get a shot of an ibis blushing.
