I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and captured this Darter with dinner. It spotted me and quickly disappeared back under the water. Being very new to bird photography I just snapped and hoped for the best!

Thank you Flo and Rick. I have been back many time and have managed to capture him/her catching another fish - not as clear as this one though.

I got it at UQ - St Lucia campus. I have been back about a dozen times and have managed to catch another Darter fishing on a few occasions, I will see if I can attach one of the other shots. The bird is quite hard to track as it fishes under water and only surfaces for a few seconds usually in the middle of the pond .... need to get a 'huge' lens :-) This one is a bit blurry but you'll get the idea.

It won't upload - keeps timing out, here is one on the link below ..

Nice one Annie. Too bad you didn't get to see him eat the fish. That is always quite a sight.

Thanks Don, I have been back on several occasions and have managed to capture it eating an entire fish - have no idea how as the fish are usually very large!

I have been to the uni a few times, havn't been back for ages though. Got a cute shot of some ducklings way back when, on my first outing with my 400prime, so must keep an eye out on baby season.

Good shooting Annie. The small band of blood on the bill in the first shot takes it to a whole different level of real.
