I decided to see how a V1 PLM might work with the Canon 600EX-RT.
Set up two 600EX-RTs in 30 inch Phottix octaboxes. each behind subject with a grid.
Power was set to 1/2 via STE3-RT (M Mode)
Third 600EX-RT was on an umbrella adapter with a V1 Silver PLM, the big one. Power was set to 1/4 plus 1/3. I was surprised to see how low the power setting could be. The Speedlite has the wide-angle diffusion panel in place to help fill the PLM. Head is zoomed to 20mm.
All the lights were 7 feet from the subject position. The PLM was right over the camera. Actually the camera was in front of the PLM.
Camera settings were 1/200, F8, ISO 200.
I was playing with is lighting setup based on some tutorials I've seen about best way to light a subject so they can be popped out of the background and composited into another image.
Here is the head shot and the then the composite.
I tried to match the color cast of the evening sky on the headshot. I did it in Photoshop after making the composite. Probably would have been better to do it in Lightroom before going into PhotoShop.
