I am hobyist. My current camera is very noisy at 1600 iso.

I think 60d & 7d are not really significant upgrade iso wise. Even with good price discount 5d2 is at outerlimit. I am willing to wait for 70d. - but will it be significant iso improvement & when will it come out. Any views are welcome

Just be glad that you can change the ISO with digital cameras. Typically, the more you spend on camera technology at any given point in time the better the ISO performance is going to be. Just don't get too caught up in the ISO wars. Have fun and go shoot. Look T Teamspeed's thread on controlling noise on the 7D. He is a master. His work at high ISOs is very impressive.

I'm in Canada. Isn't that weird!

If noise is you biggest issue with the 7d,60d then I would recommend going to FF. This is one of the main reasons I changed and I am happy with my decision.

Of course that does not mean there is no noise at high ISO's and PP NR is still very valuable, especially with the right software, but I don't think that crop sensors will suddenly get as good as FF at high ISO's.

Yes there is some noise in the ISO12800. Is it unusable? Somebody said yes... The guy with the organ used it...;) and was astounded just as much as I was...

Sounds like you need a good noise reduction program. Here's a shot I took with the same camera at 1600. I use Topaz De-noise. Clicking on the pic will take you to my Flickr page, which has a 1280-pixel wide version. Feel free to pixel peep.
