Also posted to top aviation photos thread, but wanted to post it on its own to generate more feedback for improvement. Opinions?

They're very nice shots! They stand out well against those backgrounds.

Great shots! The only suggestion that I would have for improvement is maybe being on the other side of the planes as there are shadows in the direction shot. However, it is very minor and I would be extremely proud if those were my images!!

Those shots are awesome! Great composition. If I were to nit-pick, the only suggestion I can muster would be to work the clouds a bit more in image 3 to bring out a bit more depth. Other than that, outstanding work!

Thanks. Nikon 17-55 f/2.8, they're probably all taken at 17mm. Heh, your friends come out of the wood work when you take shots like this.

Thanks, really appreciate the kind words. Unfortunately that's it. Had to share the airplanes :( we went up and the P-38/P-40 hit three different photoships for ~3 orbits each. I did bang off ~400 shots in 3+ orbits; shooting 1/20th at 17mm from one airplane that's moving of two other airplanes that are independently moving doesn't usually lead to a high success rate

I've heard that a lot; along with "those are fake". The sun was coming through the light clouds for some amazing diffused lighting onto a flat paint job - certainly makes it look fake or painted. That and they couldn't believe I shot a Lightning in the air. ...then I showed them the 195 photoship, us going over the numbers at 200', and orbiting waiting for the show.

Since the cockpit was closed (we were shooting through the glass), thinking back now it would have been pretty awesome to have a gopro mounted to my hotshoe or head. The Lightning snuck out from behind our tail and completely filled the window I was looking through - hair raising to say the least.
