Let's see..I have a t3i, so, off the top of my head the 3t is 12.2 mp, 3ti is 18.0; t3i has 3.7 fps continuous whereas the t3 has 3.0 fps, and the t3i has a swivel 3" lcd monitor where the t3 has a non-swivel 2.7 monitor. That's all i can think of right now. BTW, I hear rumors of the 3ti being discontinued and replaced with the t4i....just rumors for now.

Yeah, if you want a T3i, you might as well wait for the T4i. Otherwise get a T3.

IMO though the T3i is a good entry level camera. It is simple enough to where amateurs can start off easy and evolve to the full utilization of the camera. That would also mean you would skip the extra $500 of having a T3 and a T3i.

T3 has a much cheaper feel to it as well.

Bought my daughter a T3I for Christmas and after playing with it, I gotta say I'm very impressed with it. Takes better shots than my old 7D.

I took this shot of my new 5D III with the T3I

I beg to differ. T3 definitely has a rubber feel to it and doesn't feel cheap for me.

Have you actually felt and compared the 5D3 to the T3 like I have? Or even the T3 vs the Old XSi? I don't think you'd beg to differ so much after that ;)

not 5D3 but I know 5D2. T3 is not that much of 'cheap' feel to me to be honest, unless I want to be snobbish.

right, the T3i is a good choice but the older T2i (550D) although lacking a few features, is also pretty good

I've owned a T3, it is kindof a cheap camera. I would recommend a used T1i or T2i, or even a Rebel XS or XTi if you don't mind not having video.

The dealbreaker for me is that it doesn't have built in sensor cleaning.

This statement makes no sense at all to me. The sensor isn't superior to the 7D. It's nearly the same as the 7D, T2i, and 60D. It has the same image processor but only one of them which makes it slower but no more or less capable. They use the same metering systems as well - not that this has any impact on IQ. In the same environment with the same settings you should get nearly identical IQ. The only real difference is the AA filter on the 7D which needs a little extra sharpening but does a much better job of preventing aliasing. So in places where you are dealing with moire, the 7D should be superior. In every other scenario, a slight increase to sharpening defaults produces images that are no less sharp.
