Ok I so I updated from LR1 to LR4 and I am going to give it a chance again. I've been playing with it most of the day but for the life of me I can not find Camera Landscape or Camera Faithful you have mentioned. Are they presets I may not have? Google hasn't helped too much either. Any helpful direction?

Jaymz, the profiles were introduce, gosh, maybe in LR2 but they've been updated. LR1 was, well, not that far along:)!

To get to the profiles go to the Develop module. At the bottom of the right-hand side you will see the Camera Calibration panel. In that panel you will see the Process drop-down list and then the Profile drop-down list. Click that and you will see the choices to try out, including the default Adobe Standard, which is what my first pic started out in.

The Process option is also something to pay attention to. If you import from and LR1/2/3 catalog, your metadata will show and older "process", whereas LR4 is "Process 2012". Be aware that you may need to explicitely convert a photo or photos to 2012 from the older process. The reason why this is meaningful is that LR for has done some significant changes to the Basis tool panel (and added some cool things). The conversion to 2012 can be relatively painless, although with your older LR1 files I'm not sure how smooth things will go -- you just got to try it out.

But LR4/2012 does have some cool features!

Thank you very much Tony. I am going to give LR a 100% fair try this time. Was stuck in my old ways with DPP, PS, and a couple other programs.

Jaymz, the biggest "bits" of advice I can give about LR are boiled down in this post:

https://photography-on-the.net …hp?p=14348823&postcount=6

Also, have you seen our RAW Conversion thread? A lot of LR examples there, although the Raw converter is the same as ACR in Photoshop CSx (assuming the same "vintage")!

A couple more, still have a lot to learn when it comes to the PP side of things (well the photography side to  )

The slider went a little to far on this one but I kinda like it and my daughter said it looks cool so what the heck :D

But heh, Jaymz, that grungy ol' guy shooting that Canon gear, well he's the type that gives photography in Portland a bad name:)!
