What's on my lens? Should I be worried?

I just bought the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II last night. I brought it home, attached it to my T3i, did a happy dance, took some photos, and put it away. Today I was putting it on and I happened to look on the back portion of the lens where I noticed some odd....I don't even know what to call them, on the lens. (See pic below, I inverted the image to make the oddities show a little more, the major blob in the center is just light. Focus more on the tiny particles).
I'm not sure how to even explain them, but they look like small particles of metal....I really don't know what to call them. I tried using an air blower to see if it was something physically on the lens, but it looks more scraped or something.
I bought this only 30 hours ago, and have handled it as if it was a baby made of a billionth of an inch thick piece of ice, what could be the reasoning for this? Should I be concerned? There is no evidence of this in my photos, but I would rather exchange this asap if it could be some sort of flaw.
Thank you.

Hard to say with the image inverted (would help to see it normally)...

...but it looks like mould/fugus.

Was it a new lens?

If I had a dollar for every time I started a new thread, then found the solution I'd have like 3 dollars.

It was nothing. I took a micro fibre cloth and rubbed gently, I have no idea what it was, but it is all gone. Very odd.

Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

I feel stupid now.

I'll have this thread deleted asap.

Haha.

Don't stress...you only wasted my time. :p;) (kidding)

Don't get the thread deleted. The solution is a valid outcome for someone who might worry about the same thing.

Sorta like if your 40D won't shoot at 6.5 fps.

OK...so just realised you only joined POTN this month, so you probably won't 'get' this reference...but the whole story can be seen here.

It might even make you feel better about starting this thread! :D

It looked like maybe some invisible spit came out of my mouth (if I initially tried to blow some dust off? Did I? Don't remember.) and maybe it had dried on the lens. It was completely smooth with the glass so that's why I was concerned, it looked more like scratches.

When I first noticed it I was worried about using any type of cloth on it. This lens cost too much for me to ruin it somehow.

Lesson learned, no mouth air, only an air blower. :)
