5D Mark III L-plates?

What are all you guys using as L-plates for the 5D Mark III?

RRS. They are on version "A," which they say is the final release version, but is currently backordered. I use their L brackets on all my camera bodies, and have only rarely taken them off. And they're like body armor if the camera is unlucky enough to suffer an impact on those two side.

I'm waiting to get a better idea of the design of the Kirk & RRS plates. Once I have decided which one looks best (so far leaning possibly towards Kirk again) I'll probably order one, and the camera to go with it.

I was set to go with RRS body plate but choose the universal plate from promediagear because I want to use it with body only and with grip later and dont want to spend twice. I mostly use the plate for the BR strap and occasionally tripod. With it's price of half of RRS, it can also be doubled as lens plate.

The really right stuff plate is not for sale yet it seems. The Really Right Stuff, Kirk and Markins plates seem to all be on pre-order.

On the plus side it looks like Markins will be the first to market with these on May 11th. I liked the Markins plate for the 5D Mark II the best because it was the lightest by a wide margin and I preffer to just keep it on the camera at all times.

No, I don't think it will fit.

I preordered a Kirk L plate, and it will be here tomorrow. They have a ton of pictures on their website now, and it looks pretty interesting. I used Kirk L plates for my 40D and 7D and had no problems with them.

RRS revision A has been shipping starting April 25th.

Yes, Kirk has there camera plate for the 5D Mark III available and I am buying that to hold me over until the L-bracket for the BG-E11 is ready. Even if they had it today I couldnt use it since the grip is not shipping yet.

The Kirk looks quality but I suppose you can't use a Black Rapid strap with them can you?

My RRS L plate is on order. I am sure I will get it before I get the 5DIII delivered.

If the Black Rapid strap screws into the tripod socket on the bottom of the camera, then yes, you can use it. The bracket has a 1/4-20 socket of its own.

The initial RRS L plate was stuffed. They have been recalled and the are retooling/reengineerin​g them.

My 5D Mark II L-plate doesn't fit on the III.
