Got my Kirk L-bracket for my 5D3/BG-E11 combo yesterday. Finally my set up is complete and it only took 4 and 1/2 months from the date of my 5D3 pre-order. If I add the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II to that switching over from my 5D2 setup with 24-70mm Mark I will take a full 6 months. Took a lot longer than I would have thought when I started down this road.

I just ordered one from RRS for the 5D3 without the grip and he said they should be getting a new batch in this week sometime...

It fits real good. I had the Kirk on on my 5D Mark II with BG-E6 grip so i went them For my 5d Mark III combo.

I guess they only thing I don't like as much, but it's not Kirk's fault is the large opening they need to support for the battery magazine now loading from the end on the BG-E11 instead of how the BG-E6 works. It's the same way on my RRS one I have on my 1D Mark IV? Kirk does have a complete set of photos on their website at http://www.kirkphoto.com …Mark_III_with_BG-E11.html (external link)

I'll try to take some pictures and post them here.

I received my Kirk 5D3 L bracket and was quite disappointed that I have to remove the left strap so that the camera strap hook can sit nicely in the L-bracket. There is simply no allowance for the strap thickness in the bracket recess for the left strap hook. In my email to Kirk before purchasing, they mentioned that there is no need to remove the left strap from the camera body. This is not true. I wonder if the RRS L-bracket allows the left strap to remain attached to the strap hook? This will be so much more convenient. It is a big hassle to use a strap with the Kirk L-bracket and I'm considering a change to the RRS.

I also found marks on the camera caused by the contact surfaces of the Kirk L-bracket. A simple solution would be to apply tape to the bracket contact surfaces. Attached photos taken with my i-phone.

For what it's worth, I ordered the RRS L plate (with grip) on Monday (7/23) and just today received a shipping notice (assuming it's the plate since I didn't order anything else).

Geeze guys. Stop cuddling your cameras and got out there and use your kit. A slight rubbing on the camera paint? Gimme a break...I think I have more ware marks on my 5DIII over the last 3 months from use than I do from the RRS bracket.

Put my order in for the RRS plate (non grip version) yesterday at 1:30pm, standard shipping, and it's already right here in my hands (noon).

Whats an L plate?

Isn't it a plate that you attach to your L lens?
