BH and Adorama is out of stock and I don't want to paid for sale tax at my local camera shop. So I was browsing thru eBay and saw that Beach Camera had 9 in stock. So I quickly drove to my bank and deposit enough money to make the purchase and also stop by gocery store for some milk. I come back 2 hours later and it was sold out. WOW.... Really?!?!? with that kind of price tag you would think it be there for a little longer. Anyways just wanted to vent...LOL.

LOL.. Indeed. It's funny how much some of these folks are willing to pay over retail just to have it. I really do want one, but I'm not forking anything for $3500 for a brand new one.

With that kind of price tag you'd also think that everyone should refuse to buy the camera, at least until Canon decides to lower the price.

The 5D3 is overpriced, but people just bends over and takes it deep.

Because of such customer behaviour, you can be sure that Canon will continue with their insane pricing, again and again. :)

Me too. I had to sell the 5D2 grip and 7D grip and I'm hoping somebody will buy my 10-22 to help with the fund. If it wasn't for those things I'd be a sad puppy. :(

Deep it is.

I just do this as a hobby and I'm going to be $4k + into the hole myself after the bg-e11 and a extra battery. I'm pathetic...LOL.

BH and Adorama is out of stock......

It's worth remembering that Adorama does not charge 'til we ship, so many customers place back-orders. Then as soon as units on b/order come in, they are shipped to those on the b/order list.

They come in one door, get packaged and are out the other door the same day. SO - it may appear, particularly with new releases - that we are permanently out-of-stock, when it isn't the case......

Canon will not lower the price for well over a year. Is a year of your time worth complaining over $500 and missing out?

$500 is the difference between the 5D2 when launched and 5D3. I don't know what you make or where you live, but $500 is not worth complaining about, nor is it "taking it deep."

To the OP and actually on topic.....You have to think that there are many people out there just like you. Price is not a factor, it's the sheer number of people wanting something.

^ Do you think that Canon would keep the price this high for a whole year if no one bought their new Camera?.. Nope, they would understand that the price tag is unacceptable, and they would lower the price dramatically after only one month.. Maybe already after one week!

My point is that people should protest instead of instantly buying.

The problem is that ALL of us have to do our part, or it won't make an impact.

Ahh.. I see. Well they (5D3) are still flying off the shelfs like hotcakes at that price tag. But I will take that into consideration.

Helen, Adorama should give you a raise for doing a excellent job. I mean talking about off the clock customer service... bw!

Very true indeed. I like having 2 bodies at all times when I'm photographing, but when one camera can do both.. It's EPIC!

BTW, these guys selling them (5D3) off ebay must be making a killing of these cameras, at the moment when major retailers are out of stock.

I agree with you, but something like this would never work.

There are far too many gear heads out there who will pay anything for the latest camera, even if it is overpriced. There are also a large number of photographers who believes that shooting with the latest camera will magically turn them into a much better photographer.. And so, they will also pay whatever it takes to "get better".

There are too many people in the world,

We have the rich folk who money is no issue, they will buy it because they can,
We have the rich folk who money is no issue, they will buy it because they need to,
We have people where money is an issue, but the upgrade is worth it to them who buy it,
We have people where money is an issue, but the upgrade is not worth it to them who might buy it later, or may not,
We have people who doesn't think it is worthy upgrade regardless of price they won't buy,
We have people who think that the competition has a better product and will jump ship.

So its pointless telling people what they should do, because no one thinks alike
