the venue may appear to be well lit, but all these were shot at f/1.4, 3200iso and I lost a lot of shots with the shutter dropping down to ~1/40s. i was worried about being limited shooting exclusively at 35mm. any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I think they're great shots... really good dof if shot at f/1.4... caught some great expressions!

Lot of tilt in some and it works in a few but not all. Overall good stuff.

thanks! the tilt is partly due to trying to frame period with the prime, partly due to my drunkenness, and partly due to the fact that sometimes i feel it can make for a more dynamic shot. i do agree that i overdo it sometimes, though.
