i thought about that, i'm sure i will do that sometimes since i have a small bag i can slip the tripod into and sling it over. but for now, doing what i do is fine. feels like im carrying a sword. so if someone comes up to me i can take it out quickly and whack the person with it ;)

My tripod is like $700--I'm not smacking anyone with a Gitzo :p That's why I carry an autolock baton!

The bag isn't emblazoned with "THINK TANK" in large letters. Besides, common thieves don't know what Think Tank is. They simply have an eye for what looks good, and what's expensive. Carry around a super-expensive looking bag, and you've just become a mark. Hey, whatever you want though. $100 for a used bag that gets you the same results, or $280 for "new hotness".

Nick wants "new hotness" for $100.

Nick, are you looking for an alternative bag or still sticking to the same onion bag? you should totally get the tamron 24-70 to go with that bag

No, but I can change the direction that bones are pointed in. One smack with cold steel and those big whites will be pointed in multiple directions :)
