LGA 1155 has been out for a while.
Designed specifically for Ivy Bridge? I know LGA 1155 Sandy Bridge boards have been out.

They've got the 650m! Wow... nice... too bad HP's are crap. themadman wrote in post #14362247 I've heard the new Ivy Bridge chips have decent onboard video actually. It's a step up over the HD2000/HD3000 found on Sandy Bridge, it's still mediocre at best. Blurr Cube wrote in post #14362283 So for Ivy Bridge-E and Sandy Bridge-E, the E stands for Enthusiast? I think Asus has some LGA 1155 Ivy Bridge boards out already. I think so. And yes they do, Z77 boards, actually all the major brands have had them for awhile now. themadman wrote in post #14362303 LGA 1155 has been out for a while. Yes. themadman wrote in post #14362328 Do share where you found there to be a difference. They are the Z77 based boards. They've been out for a couple of months now. I know Sandy Bridge chips are compatible with Z77 boards, not sure if Ivy Bridge chips are compatible with the older chipsets though.

And I was responding to the post about Apple putting a crap ton of resolution in a laptop. Seems like if the HD4000 can do that well with games, it should be able to run basic stuff most mac users are using their mac for ![]() Still meh. I'd like to see them toss in Kepler into the Macbooks, even the 640m is quite a good chip. monk3y wrote in post #14362324 as long as its LG-1155...I think It would fit any processor with that socket... no? I don't think boards are that important It will fit but it may not work. The BIOS, chipset etc, has to support the processor.

My basic understanding is that Ivy Bridge is 22nm cpu (vs 32nm for Sandy Bridge) and supports PCI-E 3. | Canon EOS Systems |
