LGA 1155 has been out for a while.

Designed specifically for Ivy Bridge? I know LGA 1155 Sandy Bridge boards have been out.

That was the nicest greeting I could come up with. You should read the things I abstained from writing :)

Feel free. Just because I haven't posted in the 2AM threads doesn't mean I haven't been reading them.

Besides, I can take it. And if I can't, I'll never admit that you're the reason I cry myself to sleep at night.

Did you see the new DV6t's? They've got the 650m!

Wow... nice... too bad HP's are crap. :p

themadman wrote in post #14362247 (external link)
I've heard the new Ivy Bridge chips have decent onboard video actually.

It's a step up over the HD2000/HD3000 found on Sandy Bridge, it's still mediocre at best.

So for Ivy Bridge-E and Sandy Bridge-E, the E stands for Enthusiast? I think Asus has some LGA 1155 Ivy Bridge boards out already.

I think so. And yes they do, Z77 boards, actually all the major brands have had them for awhile now.

Yes.

They are the Z77 based boards. They've been out for a couple of months now. I know Sandy Bridge chips are compatible with Z77 boards, not sure if Ivy Bridge chips are compatible with the older chipsets though.

Benchmarks seem decent. And I was responding to the post about Apple putting a crap ton of resolution in a laptop. Seems like if the HD4000 can do that well with games, it should be able to run basic stuff most mac users are using their mac for

Still meh. I'd like to see them toss in Kepler into the Macbooks, even the 640m is quite a good chip.

It will fit but it may not work. The BIOS, chipset etc, has to support the processor.

My basic understanding is that Ivy Bridge is 22nm cpu (vs 32nm for Sandy Bridge) and supports PCI-E 3.
