Ok, been using LR for about 2 years now and I've seen this happen in the past and never understood why it would start happening or stop happening.

So I'm in the Develop module and have my photos along the bottom of the LR window. I edit in LR, sometimes do some things in other applications (select, "Edit In..."), then manage photos in LR.

Now, what normally (should) happen is, when editting a photo in an application using the, "Edit In..." selection (like Photoshop as an example), you edit the photo in the other application, then, when you save the photo it should put it next to the original file in LR in the same order it was there to begin with. Unfortunately, what happens every so often--and is happening right now and is REALLY annoying--LR will put the edited photo--along with the original file--at the END of the photos. So they're out of order. When you're editing photos from a wedding (like I'm doing right now)--and you have hundreds of photos--it becomes a real PITA.

Anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?

Thanks.

Check near the bottom and see that you haven't moved off "Capture Time" to "Added Order" or "Edit Time" instead.

And make sure you're working in the real folder, and not still working in the "Most recent import" collection.

This gets me pretty often, when I want to change to User Order. If you're in "Most recent import" it won't let you make a user order.

Where do I find this? I can only find the Filter area (no filters selected).

Thanks.

Definitely working in the folder...I checked. Thanks.

I think go back to the Library module (tap E for loupE or G for Grid), then if you don't see the Sort Order near the bottom, above the filmstrip, tap T to turn on the Toolbar.

... not sitting in front of Lightroom right now, just trying to remember off the top of my head.

Thanks. It was User Order. Changed it to Capture Time and it's working properly.

I appreciate the help!

You can also show the Sort Order by clicking the little white arrow at the right side of the toolbar and choosing it.

That only gives you View Modes.

What do you do with your original CR2 files after the new TIFF has been created?

I keep them. Never know when I need to go back to the RAW file.

What I meant was what method do you use to prevent them from being exported?

When you click on the arrow are you saying you don't see the options for Sorting, Flagging, Rating, etc, under View Modes? Hmm, you should -- check again!

Well, the CR2 is the core part of my LR2 Library -- it stays put! If I want/need to do Photoshop work then LR creates a tiff or psd to incorporate my Photoshop work, but it doesn't replace the Raw file, it just "sits" beside it in my library. I din't do that with every image, but I do work on every image in Lightroom.
