Macro cat shots

beautiful cat. Video cassettes-time you got a DVD recorder.

Great shots. I just got a (black) kitten and I'm having trouble getting good shots of him. There's no contrast (except the eyes) just black on black. The camera has problems focusing, even with the 135L.

Any of you black cat photographers care to give me a tip or two? Im finding it a real challenge and I'd like a few good pics before the kitten is a full grown cat.

Fraid I'm so used to manual focusing from my macro work that all my shots of the cat are in MF as well- solves that problem.

Great bit of PS work Brian. Love the expression on the kitty's face! I really can't understand the "I hate macros" syndrome on dpreview. I very seldom get there these days.

I can understand the DPreview forum a bit- many there think it is an equipment discussion forum rather than a results forum so question whether you should really post any pics at all. I think it would extremely boring without any...and this is what you can achieve with equipment photos.
I do still post there when doing something different- so my 3-D stuff went down quite well and so did the water drop balancing ones.
I actually find this forum and FlickR much more useful.
