Canon Elph 100HS LCD Screen Issues

I bought my girlfriend the above and the right half of the LCD screen is very dark or black. This is also carrying over to the pictures. In trying to use it the ambient light in the room is very dark and pixelated as well.

Any thoughts on short of throwing it away?

New camera? Take it back to the store, or send it back to Canon for repair.
