I have spent quite a bit of time with this camera yet have a huge percentage of unacceptable photos.
They appear to be in focus but indicate camera shake.
Most of my shooting is from a tripod using remote shutter release.
The only lenses I use are a Canon 24-70 L and a Tamron 18-270.
The Tamron having vibration damper often provides the better photos.

Live view sometimes helps but not significantly.

Does it make sense the shutter action is virbrating this camera an undo amount?

Thanks for any opinions

Jim Curts

Make sure you have IS or vibration reduction off when mounted to a tripod

Also what Tripod do you have a cheap one may not be that sturdy and transfer vibrations .

You could try mirror lock-up, but it should only matter for shutter speeds from about 1/30s to 1s. Also if you take the shot when in LV, then the mirror is already up, so that cannot be the problem.

Shaky tripod, or on a shaky surface? I know for long exposures (1-10s) even my kids running somewhere in the house is enough to cause camera shake.

I have a t1i, and I can get sharp images handheld, let alone a tripod.

It seems to me that this is a user's error thing.

Well, the first misconception to clear up is that the shutter makes no significant impact on camera vibration...
....it would be the mirrors flapping up and down that would cause vibration...as ejenner suggests...

What shutter speeds are you using?

I would venture that shutter speeds slower than 1/60 sec would allow the SUBJECT motion to blur the image (blowing grass and leaves as well as moving people) as much as the camera shaking itself would contribute to soft images....

it sounds like your shutter speed is too low.
I have a t1i and a 60d and both tof them will suffer from camera shake if my shutter speed is below 1/100th of a second.

OP is talking about shots taken ON A TRIPOD....where I would think camera shake would not be as much the issue as when being hand-held....though I do agree that the slow shutter speed must be the issue....

I would keep the shutter speeds faster than 1/250, or even 1/500 if you're photographing something moving.

There is something else here , need more info and examples from the OP.
For instance , why would live view help ? Is there a focus problem too ?
