Recently I have been watching and loving old 1960 vampire and other horror flicks. When I was processing the rose I was watching Blood and Roses, an old vampire movie. The black widow reminded me of the spider in Burn Witch Burn and while that movie wasn't in color I decided to go with an early movie color look that was so common in those wonderful old movies.

BTW, this black widow really did not like me taking her picture. She climbed off her web and appeared to be charging me..lol. I have never had anything act so aggressive before, it was kind of strange. :p That is why that picture seemed so perfect for my ode to horror films. Not to mention because of those spider horror films I had arachnophobia for many years.

I hope you enjoy them!!

The spider was the best friend I ever had. :)

Macro and arachnophobia don't really go together do they? ?!

Great images and sentiments.

...But where is The Fly?

Thanks! If you have Netflix you can watch both there. I also recommend The Pit and the Pendulum and The Raven.

Now I love spiders, my son helped me get over my fears. ;)

I will have to watch the original Fly. I only ever saw the 80s remake but Netflix I think has the original one. Then I will post my ode to The Fly...lol.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Most enjoyable photos and a very interesting story!

I didn't know that this type of spider would act aggressively towards people. Fortunately, we don't have them in Maine where I live. Maybe it's your desert heat?!?!
