Anyone have experience with a Linhof Studiomatic 60? Have the chance to purchase one at a decent price and was wondering how this ranks up with current Linhofs and Fobas.

Haven't been able to find much info on the net though sadly :(.

Thanks in advance.

Suggest you inquire about repair if needed. Where can you get parts? who will do the work?
I really like Linhof tripods and monopods. I bought a tripod described as working condition on the internet; it wasn't. I'm still trying to get parts.
I have seen a Studiomatic for sale, but didn't follow it to know what it would have sold for.
My wife has a Lilnhof tripod in new condition; I'm jealous!
(If I found a Linhof product I liked for the right price, I would just do it. That's how I came to own the tripod! ;) )

It's a local sale. I'll be checking it out in person to make sure it's of working condition and tip top condition. As for repair, the cost to ship it anywhere would outweigh the price I'm paying for it. If something should arise I have a few friends that could engineer a fix.

Well done! (You've done so much better than I.)
Go for it, if it suits your needs!

Linhof stuff is quality and usually very heavy because of it. Unfortunately I've never used one of their tripods or stands, but I would buy a Linhof tripod if I ever found one. I used a Linhof Technorama 617 camera and now own a Fotoman equivalent but the Linhof was magnificent and seriously heavy. Still have a Linhof ballhead.

I would say if it's in good working order get it. Especially if you know a couple of local machinists who could custom build for you. There's a great photographic custom machine shop in Woonsocket, RI - SK Grimes. Adam Dau is the owner and a very helpful guy. Not so far away from where you live, he does require parts though to be able to reproduce but you needn't send the whole thing.
