Thanks !

Mostly action sports - Skateboarding (indoor and outdoor), Jetski racing, Surfing, Motocross, etc.

Nephew's Baseball now and Niece's Soccer will start soon.

Occasional Portraits and shots for Model's portfolios also.....

Then set the Servo Tracking Method to "Continuous" instead of "Main" because as you pan, you want to keep the focus on your skateboarder or surfer when another object appears between you and your subject. Having it at "Main" the focus will shift to the nearer subject which may not be what you want.

Try the Servo Sensitivity straight out of the box first. If it's too jumpy, make it less sensitive.

Some likes to separate AF from metering to two different buttons, using thumb to press the * button to AF, and index finger on shutter button to meter.

I also customized my slow burst to 6FPS, just right for my bird in action. It's hard to believe 10FPS is sometimes "too fast", i know.

Thanks for all the valuable info, the previous owner was big on Sports shooting so I'm going to run with the settings he left and see how I make out.

Also, although the serial number is within the focus recall issue, he says he's never had a problem. (He did send it to Canon once but he doesn't remember what they did)

I was going to register it with the rest of my equipment for CPS Gold coverage so I wonder if Canon would know what if anything was fixed.

I don't know either. I imagine with today's technology, it's rather easy to store the serial number to keep track when the camera comes in for service. If Sigma does that, it's hard to believe Canon does not.

that's a good one, my discussions with Canon over s/n and what has been done with a body haven't produced anything useful. You might do better, maybe they track the pro bodies better.
