An interesting read on how Apple might be in the future digital camera arena.

That way, you could have your pick of lenses, processors, and sensors, while still having all the app access, iCloud and AirPlay support, and mobile broadband and Wi-Fi. Paired with an app to act as an interface for camera control, you could have the ultimate connected camera. "Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

THey could make their own camera system that just has iOS embedded, but that would be a bit risky and require some long term commitment. I think continuing down the lines of the ipad/phone tether or wireless integration would be more feasible as it would just require a little bit of partnership from existing brands with limited hardware changes. Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info | Conceptually, an iphone could just be the computer controller and LCD for the camera... the body itself could still contain all the main features, such as shutter, sensor, shutter button, lens mount, mirror (or mirrorless), card slot(s), frame rate ability, ISO control, etc. It would be possible, of course, to record RAW to the memory card slot on the main body and jpg to the iPhone so that the user could share it immediately. Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

And that's not a bad thing, IMO. - James -
