I am guessing there is more room between them than it looks, but I imagine as a pilot it must raise your "pucker-factor" a little the first time you pass wingtip to wingtip like this in one of these.

as a proud, former, Freddy driver i'll never forget the first pattern i did at Altus. there was a farmhouse on the crosswind leg off the runway, on my initial take off i looked out the pilot side window and watched the shadow of the mighty C-5 engulf this house for four straight seconds. she's a beast!

standard C-5 joke... you know why they nicknamed the C-17 "Barney"? because it's "Fred's" little fat friend that gets all the attention!

don't get me wrong, the C-17 is great....if you want to haul half the load.....half the distance.....half as fast.....for twice the price.
