I had the opertunity this past weekend to take some maternity photos for my niece and her boyfriend. This was my first time doing portrait work, I typically shoot wildlife and landscape. So needless to say I was a nervous wreck! I swear I felt like I totally forgot what I was doing once we got to location!! When I was looking through the photos I found tons of things I did wrong and need to really improve on. I hope to get to learn more because even with the nerves I really enjoyed doing this. She and the rest of the family love the photos though so I'm glad for that. The biggest thing that drove me crazy is that I didn't ask them to take off jewelry and her hair tie on her wrist  Here are a few from the session, any comments and suggestions are appreciated. Go easy on me :D haha.

I appreciate any tips to help me improve! Thanks for looking!!

I just did my first "official" maternity session this past weekend as well. One of the things I learned and that I notice in your images as well is that a black shirt or a loose fitting dress are not the best clothing choices as they need to be lit really well to show off that belly. In your first image, I have a hard time telling that she has a baby bump.

Here is a link to a few of my images if youre interested. - https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1180850

I think the composition of 4 is really nice.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate any tips I can get!

Shane, yea I agree about the black shirts, really kicked myself in the butt for that one when I started going through the photos. I am my own worst critic when it comes to this stuff.
Thanks again!
