My wife is going crazy since she has no idea what to get me for Christmas. I'm actually not helping her much because I have no idea what the heck I want either. I threw out my B&H catalogs, so window-shopping is out.

I'm looking for help for ideas. I'm looking to find something that I wouldn't normally buy with my own money - if I *need* it and can afford it I'd just get it. So I'm looking for a "toy" of sorts, something fun and useful-but-unnecessary and related to photography in some way.

So, if you could have a mostly unnecessary "toy" from B&H what would it be? Say with a max budget of $400.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

In case you don't already have them, and not eactly toys!

Remote release cable
Hand grip
CF card holder's (hold 4 per case)
Bags (my favourite - on my third now and feeling the need for a forth!)
flash meter
reflectors
grey cards
studio lighting
card for nice backgrounds...

Any use?

What about a weekend getaway? Go somewhere scenic and you can both enjoy it... My wife did that one year and we had a lot of fun.

How about a ground pod. Not really necessary, but looks like it could be handy.

You can go escape somwhere in the scenery, take your photographic equipment and have fun. Sort of like a shoot with a picknick, but somewhere not close to home (Niagra Falls? moderatly close)

filters lots of neat nutty filters ones that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself. some high end artistic photo paper. And if ya got the photo paper how about some mattes and frames. Still like the filter idea, those little suckers can be pretty pricey. :D

Does B&H sell telescopes? That's what I'd get. Well, that and the adaptor. Either that or one of those fancy photo effects programs (besides PS). Or, a tablet.

Wow, lots of good ideas! I'll have to send my wife this link.

I like the wolf safris idea Eastcoast909! ROFL! I'll have to check into that one.

Hmm... Light Meter... I'd never spend money on one myself. Checking B&H now... Ouch, a little pricey at $500 for a Sekonic with Spot (all I'd probably use).

Ooh, Sandy reminded me about Singh-Ray's variable ND filter... Hmmmm....
