Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX DG HSM

What's broken on your Canon? Can it be repaired for less than $1299? I would look into going that way before buying the Sigma.

Just FYI, your title is different from your link. Actually your title is just about the only one you could have come up with that doesn't actually describe any of the Sigma 70-200 lenses:

70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO OS HSM

You linked the newest, most expensive, and by far the best. It is generally just called the Sigma 70-200 OS, or even just the 70-200 OS.

It would be a fine replacement for the Canon 70-200 IS II. I have used both and the difference between the two is very small. The below shots are all with the 5d2.
