Every now and then, someone provides an answer to a question that really shines. For example, people often ask, what is the very best camera out there? In this particular instance, the answer has has been provided by a number of users over the years, but it still holds true.

The absolute best camera is the one you have in your hands at the moment a special photo opportunity presents itself.

This isn't a debate thread. If you want to debate someone's opinion, start a new thread and take it there. If you heard a great answer to a question....share it here.

How do you know if your photo processing is a fad?

picturecrazy wrote in post #14364780 (external link)
Do something to a photo, and then look at it again in 5 years. If you say, "damn that looks good" then it's probably not a fad. If you say, "WTF was I thinking?" then it was probably a fad.

BTW, black and white was never a fad and never will be. B&W always existed as long as photography has. Colour came out later, but they coexisted. Colour was an advancement in technology. I used to shoot two bodies, one loaded with BW film and the other with colour. B&W and colour have coexisted for a very long time, so doing both on digital could hardly be called a fad.

On the great matter of FF vs. Crop

FlyingPhotog wrote in post #14358936 (external link)
Great Light and Interesting subjects make superior images...

Nearly anything shot at Noon in direct sun will look like dreck regardless of the camera used.

FF allows for two inherent differences (all things being equal)
- Wider field of view
- Shallower depth of field

FF does not instantly create magical images. The six inches behind the viewfinder does that.
