Photographed near Winchester, Ontario about 40 minutes from downtown Ottawa. Approximately 2-3000 of these gesse have paused there for the past few weeks during their migration. Snow geese traditionally migrate slightly farther east through Quebec but over the past 5 years the western band of the migration route appears to have expanded into eastern Ontario.

1. A Snow Goose cocks its head towards a tree swallow as it rises up from feeding on insects over the lagoon.

2. White and blue phase Snow geese for Comparison

3. Part of a "Blast off" by approximately 2000 geese

IMAGE: http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s219/Squidcan/Birds2/LesserSnowGoose_18.jpg

4. A Small family group flies overhead. The lead Goose could possibly be a "Ross's" based on its shorter neck and smaller bill.

Great shots Stephen, I have never seen a snow goose in person, but hopefully one of these days I will.

There is a childrens story that could be written based upon that first shot Stepehn.

All are very good, but my favorite is the third as it is composed very well, has excellent IQ and is completely effective is communicating the dynamic of the behavior.

Excellent presentation of this beautiful goose... all the shots give us a great look at this magnificent bird... I especially enjoyed the last two shots, WoW... that flock shot is amazing, it must have been fun to see and hear this whole episode.
