Rick, I've wondered the same thing. They say it's because the boys have different checking rules and stuff. They're WAY more aggresive. (Which is also why they wear gloves and arm padding, but the girls don't). But, to me, it seems they should still wear a helmet, since that ball flies around, and I'm sure you can still catch a stick by accident. And that ball is HARD! So yeah, I've wondered they same thing!
And about the horizons- I noticed I kept getting my monopod crooked while shooting the girls. So, I was consciously paying attention to it when doing the boys. lol
