While watching the Lakers vs. Nuggets game tonight, I am 90% sure that I spotted a 1Dx under the Nugget's hoop during the first quarter. The TV camera angle gave me a pretty good look (about 9 seconds) at a 70-200 attached to it sitting on the floor next to the photographer. I could not see any "mark iii/iv" below the lens where it should have been. But I did see what looked like an X towards the top (there was definitely no D/Ds there where it should have been).

My assumption was that it was a test camera being used by AP? I know that it is supposed to be released this June but is it still possible that they are still testing the camera?

If anyone can confirm this that would be cool.

It is possible. I know a motorsport photographer that constantly has test or soon to be released products that Nikon wants him to put through it's paces. I assume Canon does the same exact thing. Put it in the hands of a pro that will really use it and let them report back. It's the best type of test as that is the core client base. If something isn't working they will tell them.

There are photo agencies that have been using it for a few months.

Well I'm sure Sports Illustrated has a few, also probably Getty Images, AP, Reuters etc.

I'm still wondering, what happened to push the March release date out?

I heard that part of the problem was that the demand has been so high that they wanted to make sure that had enough stock, also that some things had been found in testing that needed rectifying.

Whither it's right or not I don't know but it was a reliable source.

I agree and that makes sense! I don't care what one sells, but you must have enough to go around for a week or so. Lets hope they did what Apple did with the iPad 3, and stock pile 1DXs for 5 weeks or so before release! I don't have a dog in this race, but I can't wait until 1DXs get into the consumer's hands. ;)

I'm thinking light leak & AF @ f8 .... maybe even something else to boot.

I've never bought anything which cost so much based on trust that the manufacturer will get it right from the start. Anytime I've ever dropped big bank, the products had a proven history.

Canon had better get it right. Never before have I seen so many waiting on the hype that surrounds this. If there is one thing wrong with it, I'm afraid Canon will never hear the end of it. It would be looked at like a DeLorean ...lol.

That's what I was assured by the retailer i've pre-ordered mine from, which was news that apparently came from Canon themselves, and we now appear to be in May.
