The guy on ebay with tons of positive feedback is selling 3 1DS3 for $1800 a piece. Very suspicious because he ask to email outside the ebay...
Just search 1DS3 on eBay by Newest First you will see them.

Scam. Anytime the price is too good and they go outside of the Ebay listing it's a scam.

What's wrong with posting it here? If you have problem with it, roll your eyes and go somewhere else. This is perfect forum to post this kind stuff.

I completely agree with you. People act like they're posting breaking news when they see something listed at a fraction of the normal cost. (Not necessarily in this thread per-se, but it happens all too often.)

And as for the people that say "If you don't like it, then move on." Well, it wouldn't it be nice if we were able to keep POTN full of quality threads instead of diluting it with the obvious scams? For example, how would it look if I posted 354 threads in the Market Watch forum pointing out scams on Craigslist? Because that's about how many one can find in a short amount of time...

We don't need posts telling us the sky is blue. IMO.

Someone pointed out a scam to me just this morning saving me $150.00 on a Canon branded knockoff grip. I never would have known. Grip, box and instructions all looked legit.

That was a valuable (for information) thread. Unfortunately there are often multiple threads per day with the same scam:

- EBay BIN for new camera (usually a high end camera)
- Crazy price, typically 50% or less of retail
- Instructions to email seller outside of eBay to complete sale
- Usually seller's history show no camera equipment, but now they suddenly have multiple high end cameras for sale.

In every instance this is a scam. Anyone who would do a quick search would realize this immediately. Constant threads detailing the exact same scam get tedious after a while.

It is perfectly fine to post here, the problem is more that people seem to have to question whether a deal is legit or not. I think most get a bit perturbed when something is quite obviously a scam, and a person questions whether it is legit or not by posting questions on it.

For as long as people think these are legitimate deals, the scam artists will continue to abound. Unfortunately as many sites that pop up daily, the hijacked accounts, CL scammers, etc as there are, means that society as a whole still hasn't picked up on the tell-tale signs. It is better to ask and be educated then to not ask and get scammed out of $1Ks of dollars. :(

I agree. I also found that thread with very useful information. But these threads where you know for sure it is scam are just waste of space.
