Hi all,

This post will be mostly "record shots" and not our best work photographically, but our 1st-nesters (baby Bluebirds) have finally started coming down into our near trees and making some brief appearances on the deck, so we want to share some of these first homecoming shots of them now:

We're sure to get some better images of these sweet Bluebird youngsters soon, and as always we'll be updating the whole family's progress as the season proceeds. We've got lots of other baby birds here now too of course, so I'll hope to do another "Baby Birds Only" post somewhen soon also.

And lastly... I want to share just a few more "record" images here which were taken early in the morning yesterday (at ISO1600) before there was sufficient light...
Our first ever sighting and captures of a Prothonotary Warbler, and our Backyard Bird Species #73:

All these are shots a not so much about the photography and more just about the birds, but we hope you enjoy them anyway.

Happy just to see your updates Kenn... I always say that it is hard to find a more photogenic bird than the Bluebird, especially the "kids" with the big eyes. It must be a thrill to see the new hatch find their way to your deck... beautiful little birds. Congrats on the Prothonotary, such a lovely warbler... I have seen this warbler only once and they are spectacular.

Dave

these are all excellent, really like the looks of the two birds in #1, looking at the center one with the berry

Thanks for the update Kenn, happy to see the "kids" are doing well. Nice series here and I'm looking forward to more of them. Congrats on the Prothonotary, we're fortunate to have them in good numbers in and around the wetlands during the warm season. They're my favorite Warbler and I listen for their song whenever I go into their habitat with hopes of capturing a shot or two. There's a place about 3 hours from my home that has them in big numbers, it's a Cypress swamp and they're busy nesting right now. You can learn a bit more about this location here:
