Vermilion Flycatchers

Vermilion Flycatchers, a male and a female, were taking turns using an out-of-bounds stake at our local country club. Though the perch wasn't particularly photogenic they seemed to find it just perfect for hunting.


Someday I'll get a closeup view of a Vermilion in the act of catching an insect with a sunlit flash of red but probably not soon. <G>

Very nice.
the Male has wonderful color.
Ive only gotten a few Vermillion Flycatcher shots in the past year.
They are hard to get close to.
I need a bigger lens.:lol:

I have the same feeling sitting behind an 800 mm + 1.4 <G>

The only success I've had has depended on watching from a distance to determine a favored perch, slowly approaching when the perch is empty and then waiting. Waiting. Waiting.
