I'm interested in getting 2 Photoflex Medium Halfdome stripboxes, 15 x 55"
with grids.
I will be using them on each side with a BD for 3/4 to full height portraits.
I already own a Medium Photoflex 24 x 32" gridded Softbox with white interior.

The question: Should I splurge and get the 2 stripboxes or buy another Medium 24 x32" with grid, Would the mediums have enough coverage?
If the consensus is to get the stripboxes, do I get white or silver interior? Silver is about $50.00 more than white.

I pretty much know what the answer is and I know it's gonna hurt my wallet. I'm hoping someone will convince me "just" to get the Medium softbox.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

The part of your lighting plan that I have the most trouble with is the BD for a 3/4 to full length shot.
That is not the purpose for which they were designed.

The strip lights are also special purpose modifiers.
It sounds like you have specific lighting concepts.
Why are you asking for confirmation?

Thanks for the reply.
I like the kind of images Joel Grimes does, of 3 lights with a hdr background dropped in.
His website states that he uses the Medium Photoflex softboxes, gridded, on each side.
I thought strip lights would cover more head to toe.
I was surprised actually that he didn't use strip lights.
I guess he knows what he is doing.
As far as the BD, I've seen BD images here & there on the web
with strong side lighting on each side that looked fantastic.
The silver/white interior question was if the difference in contrast
was very noticeable and made one more useable in many situations over the other.

I've got the medium Half Dome that you can use hot lights with and I have the small Half Dome for Strobe only, both with grids. If I was to do it over again I'd get the medium half dome for strobe only because they are lighter weight and I'm not using hot lights. I've also got the small Elinchrom strip (I may get a Light Tools grid for it).

The 15X55 and the 24X32 are really so different, although with a grid on the 24X32 you can certainly get a lot more control than without. I'd buy a 15X55 and see if it works for you. B&H are really good with returns.

Go ahead, spin the wheel.

That's a good idea. Since I already have the gridded 24 x 32", I should tryout a single gridded 15 x 55" and compare them.
Thanks!
