What to do with my 10-22? (love the way that rhymes) :)

My main lens is a 24-105L. Its shared between my 7D and my EOS 3. Problem is that its not quite wide enough on a crop but I do have the 10-22 which covers it. I love my b&w film and I normally carry my EOS 3 with me. So what I intend to do is buy a Sigma 17-50 to live on the 7D and the 24-105L, which was made for FF can live on the EOS 3.

But what to with the 10-22? To be honest, I don't use it as much as I should. Two bodies and their respective lenses is all I want to carry about with me. With the 17-50, all I'll be losing is 6mm at the wide end (I can still put the 24-105L on the 7D if I need more reach).

If I sell the 10-22 now, it will pay for most of the Sigma 17-50 and I'll be able to get it straight away. If I keep the 10-22, it will be quite a few months before I can afford to but the 17-50. The thing nagging away at me is that I got the 10-22 really cheap. I got it tax free from Hong Kong and I only paid 355 UK pounds for it. If I ever wanted to buy another one it would cost me quite a bit more than that?

Your thoughts guys??

Upgrade to full frame and 24mm will be wide enough for you. But I will assure you, later on you will pick p a wider lens like I did. I have a 24-70L and 16-35L II

7mm is a lot! That's the difference between your 24-105 and the 17-50. Unless you don't like UWA(or only use it rarely), you might very well regret getting rid of it. Actually, the large majority of users on here, lament that one of the biggest things they miss when going ff, is having to get rid of/missing their 10-22. ;)

Here's another alternative...

Swap your 10-22 for a Tokina 12-24.... The Tokina will fit and work on a FF camera as wide as 18 or 19mm. Then you can use the same lens on both cameras and won't need to have a duplication. (Note: I have not tried the Toki 12-24 on an EOS-3. Just to be certain, you might want to test it in a store first. I have tried it on 5D series cameras and it works fine, so I think it will be fine on EOS-3, too.)

sell the 10-22, get a 17-40 or 16-35 v1. All problems solved.

You can thank me later

the difference between 17mm, and 10mm is pretty significant...look thru your 10-22mm, and see all that you'd be missing out on...

If you buy your 17-50 used, then selling the 10-22 will leave you with money in the bank. When I was looking for a constant 2.8 standard zoom a few months back, I missed a Sigma 17-50 going for £317 on ebay.
I'm with you on ultra wides too, as useful as some people find them I use mine less and less since I got my 17-55.
