Saturday, having a totally uninspiring day I decided to take a drive in hopes of finding SOME inspiration. Not really wanting to go far I ending up driving 2 hours anyway to one of my favourite places to shoot. I arrived about 3 hours before sunset and the light was pretty harsh and ugly. The area I shoot at most is a sea of rocks and boulders with endless photo possibilities. The challenge is finding the perspectives that inspire. While waiting for better light I hunted for photo opportunities. Unexpectedly some dark clouds moved in totally transformed the light. The clouds and the sun were now on a race for the horizon. At first the clouds took over but just as the sun was to hit the horizon it appeared from behind the clouds. Once again, mother nature delivered me some amazing colours and photo opportunities! As you can tell I like long exposures and one bonus of l/e photography is it gives you more time to look around. The last photo is a good example of a photo opp I could have easily missed. While exposing I turned to my left and notice the rock changing colour. As soon as my exposure was done I set up to shoot the rock. While exposing (8sec) the rock ignited! It only lasted about 20 seconds but it happened while exposing. Before I could set up another composition the light faded!

Hope you like!

Well done again, Scott; that is certainly a beautiful minefield of rock and you've captured it beautifully.

Love 'em all, but #5 really tugs at my heart. Very well done, again.

Simply beautiful Scott.

Just proves that things can change in a short amount of time.

Best,
