Love the series Scott, and thanks for posting the parameters and setup. Can I ask how you caculate your exposure time? Ive been using a method of ISO 6400 and for evey second of SS indicated I do a 1 to 1, sec to min at ISO 100 without filters. I want to add filters to the mix and just havent found the right formula.

Honestly, I have photographed so many long exposures I have a pretty good feel for things and usually get it or close on the first exposure. When I started using the 10 stop (b+w) I would set my camera to iso 1600 or 3200 and get my exposure looking good then do the math to get to ISO100.

Exactly, have spent most of last 24hrs since joining this forum looking at the pics on here but these are truly inspiring.

Thank you all so much for the comments! I greatly appreciate it! I feel humbled to be an inspiration to others even though I often feel uninspired! Being a landscape lover and shooter living in the prairies sure has it's challenges!

Thank you. You can get into filters for fairly cheap if you want. Cokin is cheap but not the best quality. I used a few as I can't afford much else.

You could try maxsaver.net

That is where I bought my 10 stop a couple years ago. Much cheaper then in the local store. I paid $85 and the stores were selling them for $179.99. BIG savings.

There price has gone up a little but still a great deal:

A little lest quality and price you could get a Hoya ND400 9 stop ND filter:

I have a Hoya ND8 (3 stop) ND and a B+W ND110 (10 stop) and may pick up a 6 stop as sometimes I need an in-between strength.

Cokin filters are quite cheap. There is also a few other less expensive brands.

You don't have to spend a ton of money to get into filters and filters are essential for landscape shooters.
