I was looking at 40Ds in the $375 used price range here in STL, but I came across a 50D with 25,000 actuations and otherwise in near mint condition for $475. Seemed like a no brainer to scrounge up $100 more and go for the 50D. Unfortunately mine never got too many clicks because the 1D3 kind of overshadowed it so I sold it... I wouldn't hesitate buying another if I found one for the right price though.

You are in for a treat. The 50D is a fine camera and well worth the extra $$$ over the 40D. It is a serious upgrade over the XT.
