why not just get a mirrorless camera if a single lens is good enough for you? one of the main advantage of DSLR is the large selection of lenses. I'd prefer carry a X100 than lugging a DSLR around! you should also look into the D800 since you don't have much invested in Canon glass. Sony sensors are miles ahead of Canon.

I second the X100. If you aren't going to change lenses, why even bother with a DSLR?

I decided not to buy the Mark II

I decided to go against my original decision process and invest in glass instead of purchasing the Mark II. It was a tough decision because I wanted the Mark II and the funds were available, however after spending some time reviewing the images I have shot with the XSI I came to the conclusion that I really didn't need the Mark II and questioned how much I would gain in spending 2k (considering I can't find any flaws with the XSI images). I ordered the 50 1.4 and 85 1.8 which will be here this afternoon. Thanks everyone for their input !

If you feel the body is no limitation and you need more glass I'd say its a good decision.
Glass in many cases is first and foremost and the bodies will come and go.

Do you have a flash??? using flash will help alot when trying to stop action from little kids running around.

If your into natural light look and do not shoot with flash the 5d or 5dmk2 is more capable of capturing images alot cleaner. But now that you have faster primes you'll be able to ramp up the IQ with your current body.

I have recently purchased an Olympus E-M5 micro 4/3 system and the images I get with primes are cleaner than my 5dc. Infact I prefer the RAW digital files over my previous 50D and 1dmk3 (this is no joke either). In the next coming years I couldn't imagine whats gonna happen with camera technology.

Enjoy your new lenses. The 85 f/1.8 is a gem!! Next lens to consider would be a 24L :)

I upgraded from a 40D to the 5D Mark II. I can look at an image and tell which camera took which picture in most cases. Get the 5D Mark II or Mark III and you won't regret it.
