I'm using Lightroom 3.2. Sometimes when I click on a caption, it is overwritten with the caption from another photo. Why is that happening?

Well, Lightroom has some "Auto Fill" features that try to help, when entering Titles, Captions and Keywords in their respective windows, but they don't always work as you'd wish.

So, when you start to type in a caption and Lightroom starts to do this (with blue text) just hit the Delete key and type on. If you don't delete when it's blue, it can get messy -- you'll have to re-select the text that has been auto-entered and delete.

Epic Frustration that LR will "memorize" nonsense words that are typos and are close to something you type often... :(

Heh! The Keyword window can be frustating that way!

Sometimes i've inadvertently let keywords slip in that are not where I intend them to be in the hierarchy, and then they are in the Auto-Fill/pop-down list when I don't want them to be and are there until I hunt them down and remove them!

I don't think this is the same as the problem I'm having.

I have completed captions in photos A and B. I return to the caption A to edit it, and when I click on the box, it is overwritten with the caption from photo B. There is no blue highlight. When I right-click on the box again, the 'undo' button is greyed out.

When you're in Grid View, do you have multiple images selected?

Try hitting CTL+D to unselect everything and then go edit one image. Next, just use the right arrow to go to the next image and give it a new title. Now left arrow back to the first image and see if the title changed.

I considered it might be because of having multiple images selected, but I think I would be seeing "<mixed>" in the caption box if I did, wouldn't I?

Unfortunately I can't test your suggestion because it's not happening right now and I haven't figured out what triggers it or exactly what stops it happening.

So far I've just been going into the develop mode, doing something, then going back and it seems to stop happening.

Well, I don't know, if we can't replicate the problem then we can't help solve it!

However, you do know that LR3 got up to LR3.6 until LR 4 came out. Not that it would solve your problem, just know that the LR team works to fix bugs as well as add new cameras to their version upgrades.

Yeah, I'll try to figure out what exact circumstances it's happening in.

And I'll try updating, thanks.
