question is pretty much in the title...sent my 35f2 in for repair, they sent me a quote, i paid...on the email it said should be back in 7 days...it's been nearly a month...i called they said they're waiting on a part...

is this a long time to wait?, or does it just seem like it to me :)

hopefully i get it back in 2 weeks, as i've got a trip coming up

4 days. CPS member, but I doubt that it would have helped if they can't get the part.

I absolutely dread sending anything to Canon (nothing but bad experiences here). You need to stay on top of Canon Service Center, as their communication is horrendous. Bug them every other day, make sure they aren't just sitting on the lens doing nothing.

I recently sent my 50L in... called in 5 days later to check on status, and they hadn't even taken it out of the box yet. Then they have a policy where they charge you BEFORE telling you what's being repaired.

I HATE Canon service.

EDIT: to answer your question as to how long I've waited... about a month.
