Received my RRS plate for my G1X but I have to ask...

Why do you have to have a plate that fits the entire camera base and then screw another plate from a tripod onto that base plate??

Why isn't there just one plate that's fits the head of the tripod?

Has anyone else brougt this plate and what are your set ups like please..

Photos would help!

Cheers

I believe all RRS plates are designed to fit Arca-Swiss mounts. So, technically, that plate is the tri-pod mount for Arca-Swiss type tripod heads

Thanks mate!

I have the Manfrotto MKC3-PO2 with the ball head and plate, the plate is a weird shape and screws directly onto the base of the camera then clicks into the head....

So ne need for the RRS plate unless I have a something like a Markins ballhead etc....?

Correct. No need unless you have this style of head

QUOTED IMAGE

Yep, cheers, thought as much.........might have to sell the RRS plate now as the tripod set up is great for the travel I do. Folds to about 37cm and I found a Velvon case that it fits perfectly...very lite weight as well..

Oh well never mind, unless there are other recommendations, I have the Gitzo traveller tripod with the Q3T but that's too big for this camera and intended for my 5D3 when I get it....

Maybe I just keep it in case....what to do...

I'm thinking of buying the RRS plate for my G1X. Any comment on your experience with the plate so far?

Great quality and fits perfectly to the base of he camera, allows easy access to the memory card and battery slots too.

Won't know what it's like on the Q3T until I get home and try it.
