Adobe is finally coming around to things... :D

I will skip this for now, but it would be nice to have it purchased through the App Store. I love having a central spot for updates, no license management, re-download whenever, etc..

Now, if they can get Photoshop to come across next.

Very interesting news. Thanks. Wonder if us licencees could switch to App store without paying.

Nope. You'd have to rebuy and as it sits today with way the store currently works, theres no upgrade pricing either.

I'm sure that apple is working on this scenario, but something to be aware of, as it is today.

The caveats are kinda crap.

- Mac only (which I guess is not a problem for most Mac users, but still...).
- Delayed updates.
- No upgrade pricing from pre-LR4, and guaranteed upgrade pricing from LR4 to LR5.
- Most likely no access to RC's or Betas via app store.

Buying it online direct from Adobe is way more beneficial, IMO.

Not at all true, hence the reason the 10 fastest computers run Linux.(and 90% of the 500 fastest)

I build them myself and for Macs(well Apple Products in general) you pay mostly for the name.

You overpay 2-3 times as much for Macs for the hardware you get, you'd be better off buying a PC and then installing the Mac OS onto it. Then you'd still be at 1/3 less the price.

I have been using a MacBook Pro now for 5 years - the same one - and it still gets six or seven hours on its battery. I would love to see a Dell do that. You get what you pay for. You want to take a plastic bodied laptop to the field with ya... and you will see how long that "deal" you got lasts.

PCs are fine for a lot of people.... but for me, I don't want to futz with a computer, I want to get my job done.

Adobe Products coming to the store is a great thing. It will make owning and managing software much easier.

The whole Apple argument thing is silly. It is just like L glass. Yes, you can get 95 percent of the shots with a standard lens, even a Sigma that cost much less than an L, but if you absolutely don't want to worry about getting the shot, you will use top quality products. It is the same. You can use a plastic bodied laptop and PhotoSHop will be the same as on the more expensive Mac.... but when you need to be absolutely positively sure you to get the job done..... I think you can figure it out. Lots don't use L glass... lots don't use Macs.... go figure.

Well said... Don't get me wrong if it wasn't for Microsoft, windows and PCs that run it I wouldnt have a job. My technicians that I employee clean 50-75 pcs a week from virus's fr clients of ours, tweaks and optimize and general maintenance. I've been using the same 17" MacBook pro for 5 yets and have yet to clean anything or optimize or reload.
